My obligatory entry on the biggest nerd news since 1998:
The Slashdot reaction:
Best single comment:
>Man, it is cold in hell today. Brr. :P
>>>Dispel any remaining doubts; we are now living in the evil mirror universe.
>>I'll believe that when the Red Sox win the World Series!
>Yeah, right -- that's about as likely as finding out who Deep Throat is.
>"This is bullshit."
Most hackneyed comment:
>I, for one, welcome our new Intel overlords.
Ooh! a new ballot just came in:
>Oh this is so exciting.
>Over the years, I've made a ton of bets with Mac fans who swore up and
>down that Apple would never, ever switch to Intel processors.
>I am now owed several kegs of beer and some free fancy dinners. A couple
>people owe me a million bucks.
>1. Make wagers with Apple people.
>3. Profit! Steve Jobs will make the announcement for you.
Now reveal your strategy to the market and exercise your stock options on the up-tick, wait this isn't a Dilbert cartoon.
Yeah, I just heard about that yesterday. I couldn't believe that Mac is selling out like that. The world, she's a coming apart.
I was sad because Jobs said that the OS wouldn't run on standard systems, only special built Mac Intels. Oh well. I'm sure someone will crack that for me. I was actually thinking about buying my first OS, too.

I'm waiting for my stock option bounce to happen... come on... I can feel it... make those options worth something!
I love Apple and all... but really... I'm kinda happy. Yeah, it's gonna piss off the hard-core Mac lovers (or the hard-core haters of my employer), but in the long run, it was gonna happen. And if that inevitibility comes with a financial gain for me, well, I'm doubly OK with it. =D
I read that the Intel Macs are really fast when running native apps. I drool in anticipation. Also a lot of people are talking about dual-boot systems where you could boot either Windows or Mac OS on the same machine, which I would like very much.
