Just a note for all you right-thinking individuals that sysadmin appreciation day[1] is coming right up, and is now exactly a month away! That's right, a day free of the toil and plodding of the... what? We don't get the day off? We'll be lucky to get a card, you say? Well damn. Clearly we need a union. Anyway, you should all start thinking of the nice things to [do for | say to] your local technical people to keep them off the single malt during working hours.

There was cake, but it wasn't specifically for me. Someone had bought cake, and there was leftover in the freezer. I ate it anyway.

6 years with my particular company, and we've yet to see a celebration for this. Secretaries (I mean "Administrative Professionals")? Sure. Bosses? Absolutely. Sysadmins? Who are they again?


I should pitch to the team that since I run all the servers in the lab, that they need to buy me lunch or take me out after work and buy me drinks or something...

I'd rant about DNS and propagation, but that's largely been fixed. Now you can blame DNS caching servers for not paying attention to refresh/expire timeouts in the SOA.
