And the snickering continues unabated [Aug. 3rd, 2005|10:35 am]
Particularly humorous was a memo complaining that the staged women who were calling in to a request show weren't exciting enough.

--Ars Techncia

Some things just crack me up. See? Does no one do their job well anymore?

Lord knows I don't. The problem with being officially labeled an "intern" (aside from the dress) is you have no real ownership over processes and projects. Since I don't feel that I have responsibility for the projects I work on, I'm not really giving it my all. Some days, I feel like Mordac, the preventer of information technology, rather than someone who actually cares.

School starts soon. Got a jury summons. Guess how those two are related? If you said "they both start on the same day," you win a prize! So, I'll be sending my undue hardship letter shortly, which might just result in a postponement.

In other school news, here's the classes I'm taking, and my prestart presumptions:

DISCRETE STRUCTURES - As opposed to indiscreet structures.
UNIX SYSTEM PROGRAMING - Looking forward to acing this one.
MATH - Eh.

This will be updated after the first week or two of classes with hasty comments about the teachers, subjects, and cute guy ratios of each.

Finally, I really can't say enough good things* about the singles mingleness of okcupid.com The humor is what did it for me. Great snideness. "No matches. Maybe you're retarded?"

*OKcupid NOT recommended for persons with large egos or persons with no self esteem.

Is the dress you mention literal, or do you mean like the dress code?

it's more like an allegory to certain other interns of blue dress fame.

Imagine that... a Promotions person being quoted as saying "I'm a whore this week, what can I say?" =D

Hope school doesn't end up being too bad... I'm in an Ethics class for the Summer session at my school, and it's really amusing to see some of the crap all these other people are writing. I think the best one is another person on faculty at the school, who's auditing the class - her responses to questions are VERY long winded (she IS a PhD after all) and rarely on-topic. More often it's regurgitation from the textbook broken up by section headings.

makes it sound like it's something unique. You know, just this one week. Riiight.

Heh, I took the ethics class the first semester... The only ethical test I witnessed was if people would cheat on an ethics test... answers point to yes on that one. Somehow I think the point of the class was missed.

I was joking with my boss about having my intern write all my papers for my ethics class. He didn't get the joke.

PhD? Excuse Me!

You are just jealous that you are not going to be continuing your schooling past your bachelor's. Don't look down on Phd's since you are never going to be one. You only wish you were smart enough to not have to think of new things to say! Work Smarter - NOT harder! Y'all Fools!
